our soldiers make the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe.they risk their own lives to ensure that we can live ours to the fullest. take a moment to reblog this or simply say a prayer to our soldiers to remind them that their dedication is not going unnoticed.
&remember that a soldier doesn’t fight because they hate the people in front of them, they fight because they love the ones behind them<3

The night before the burial of her husband 2nd Lt. James Cathey of the United States Marine Corps, killed in Iraq, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before she fell asleep, she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of him, and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept.
“I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it” she said.
“I think that’s what he would have wanted”.
Today, at 11:11, many wished for the perfect boyfriend, more money, or to become famous. Today, at 11:00, the family and friends of fallen soldiers just wanted their family / friends back. Lest we forget.

There are some beautiful pictures from today that I really wanted to share with you.
The first is “A poppy placed on a statue commemorating the fallen at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire”
The second one says “Friends and family place red poppies on the honour roll at the Remembrance Day Commemoration Service at the Australian War Memorial today.”
Today when the reminder went off my lecturer stopped in the middle of her speech, went into the office, and closed the door. My classmates and I looked around at each other and as one bowed our heads to remember.
I’m not sure who or what they were thinking of but I was thinking of my own who have not come home and the ones still fighting.
I’m looking through the photos from today and my heart hurts to see the number of veterans dwindling down. I read an article on the tube and one sentence has been echoing in my mind all day. One of the veterans in the article said “I’ve made the journey because I want it to be special, this will be my last you see.”
I wonder if they look at our generation in sadness and think they still haven’t learnt yet.
